Mount Kinabalu, the Highest Mountain in Malaysia |
Sunset over Kota Kinabalu Sabah |
By AV Latinggam
A beach at Dinawan Island, Sabah |
Mid-March and the days are long
The sky brighter than blue
In the eastern sky
The sun gloriously shines
Merciless in its giving
Engulfing the world
In its heated embrace
Under the shades of the palm trees
Waving the cool into my face
I see no end nor surcease
To the hot and heat of the tropical day
I long for night to close
Its curtain against the day’s glare
And twilight to gently sway
The breath of gentle zephyr
And cool me as I lay
On this mat under the palm trees
There is no betrayal
Parallel to the ides of March
But of my heart which longs
For the cool of an occidental sky.
